MR. WENDAL

"Mr. Wendal" is a single released by influential rap group Arrested Development in 1992, from their most commercially successful album, 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of....The song was written about the plight of the homeless and encourages people not to ignore them just because of their status or how they look. The song reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, which is one of their highest positions and, a month earlier, reached #4 in the UK Singles Chart, continuing the group's string of hits in both countries. How many of us have seen our fair share of Mr. Wendals? So many of our fellow human beings are living on the streets simply looking to make it to another day. While I know that we can’t simply help everyone, it doesn’t serve us the right to ignore these persons either. There are SO many ways to be of service to others, yet we act as if those in need deserve to be living a life without the basic necessities. I am of the opinion that we grow richer every time we give of ourselves…ESPECIALLY when we give of ourselves with no thought of return. Giving selflessly to others is an act of love that can fill us with satisfaction beyond measure. Not only do we have the opportunity to see how our gifts benefit others, but we get to experience the priceless sensation that comes from offering our care and concern to others. The fact that we are in a position to give allows us to appreciate the overflow of abundance in our lives that allows us to give freely. Give what you can today in service of others, and your efforts will carry a handsome return. I am sure Mr. Wendal would appreciate you…

OLDIE, BUT GOODIE: ¡OUCH THAT HURT!...¿DO I MATTER?

I AM THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT BELIEVES NOTHING HAPPENS BY CHANCE. AS I SAT YESTERDAY WONDERING WHAT OLDIE, BUT GOODIE ENTRY THE UNIVERSE WAS GOING TO HAVE ME REPOST, I WAS MORE THAN HAPPY WHEN I CLICK THE VIEW RANDOM LINK & IT BROUGHT ME HERE. I REMEMBER WRITING THIS ENTRY & ME TRYING TO FIND SOME BALANCE TO WHO I AM & HOW OTHERS REALLY SEE ME. I CAN SAY TODAY THAT I HAVE FOUND MY MIDDLE GROUND & I CAN LIVE KNOWING THAT MY LIFE ISN’T IN VAIN…
In the grand scheme of things, I more often wonder if the things I want and need really matters to others whom I share this planet. I ask this question because too many times I have to deal with situations and events that force me to swallow whatever pill being PRACTICALLY shoved down my throat. Now the strange thing about me is that others would say that I am a B!TCH and an individual that only cares about himself, which totally is NOT the truth. I have more times than I care to count placed others before myself and as life would have it I am the one that is the left out in the cold. Nevertheless, I cannot say that I am blameless; I however allowed others to place me last and themselves first. Yet still as I live do I ever do anything without CONSIDERING others especially if they are directly effected. Never would I have an attitude that @ anytime display the MY WAY or NO WAY syndrome. I am the most UNCOMPLICATED, EASY-GOING & SELFLESS person I know and sadly, @ the end of it all I DO NOT MATTER! I GUESS THIS IS APART OF WHAT IS CALL LIFE…MY LIFE THAT IS! How do I get a BREAK or CONSIDERATION for the place I occupy on this planet? I am ADAPTABLE and PLIABLE, always ensuring that I accommodate others and their needs; I am very much aware of the BLACK n’ WHITE variations of life. However, I live my life thinking that most of us are in that GREY area and this is where the overlapping of LIFE truly lies. Nonetheless, I am the GREY matter and I DO NOT matter because I get the treated otherwise. I would love to say that it does not HURT or AFFECTS me, but I am HUMAN and this does hurt. I feel life’s PAIN just like anyone; I guess my SOLE purpose is to feel MORE pain than the rest of the world. I know that may seem like an exaggeration, but it is how I feel…IT IS JUST HOW MY LIFE IS…

NEVER GIVE UP...

When you’ve struggled all your life,

Working towards a dream;

You have been dealt all kinds of obstacles,

Never knowing what they mean.

They say what doesn’t kill you,

Will only make you stronger,

At times it feels you’re getting no where,

And you start to wonder how much longer.

How much can one take,

Before he decides to let go,

As a champion you must keep going,

Because if you quit you’ll never know.

You have to stay determined,

Especially when times are rough,

If you do, you will become stronger,

If you do, you will become tough.

The people who are tough,

Will make it to the top,

They continued to push forward,

When everyone else decided to stop.

So if you want to achieve your dream,

You must continue to believe that you can,

Just remember this one thing,

Never give up on your game plan.

DESPELLING DRAMA...

There are scores of people in the world who seem to be magnets for calamity. They live their lives jumping from one difficult to the next, surrounded by unstable individuals. Some believe themselves victims of fate and decry a universe they regard as malicious. While others view their chaotic circumstances as just punishments for some failing within. Yet, in truth, neither group has been fated or consigned to suffer. They are likely unconsciously drawing drama into their lives, attracting catastrophe through their choices, attitudes, and patterns of thought. Drama, however disastrous, can be exciting and stimulating. But the thrill of pandemonium eventually begins to frustrate the soul and drain the energy of all who embrace it. To halt this process, we must understand the root of our drama addiction, be aware of our reactions, and be willing to accept that a serene, joyful life need not be a boring one. Many people, so used to living in the dramatic world they create, feel uncomfortable when confronted with the prospect of a lifetime of peace and contentment. The drama in their lives serves multiple purposes. Upset causes excitement, prompting the body to manufacture adrenaline, which produces a pleasurable surge of energy. For those seeking affection in the form of sympathy, drama forms the basis of their identity as a victim. And when drama is familiar, many people believe they can avoid abandonment by continuing to play a key role in the established family dynamic. The addiction to drama is fed by the intensity of the feelings evoked during bouts of conflict, periods of uncertainty, and upheaval. Understanding where the subconscious need for drama stems from is the key to addressing it effectively. Journaling can help you transfer this need from your mind onto a benign piece of paper. After repeated writing sessions, your feelings regarding the mayhem, hurt feelings, and confusion often associated with drama become clear. When you confront your emotional response to drama and the purpose it serves in your life, you can reject it. Each time you consciously choose not to take part in dramatic situations or associate with dramatic people, you create space in your inner being that is filled with a calm and tranquil stillness and becomes an asset in your quest to lead a more centered life.
