Each era has its phenoms, the thing that changes our assumptions of what can happen to mankind; and this is the age of HIV/AIDS. This disease though not as deadly STILL poses a significant threat to us, yet SO many of us are NOT taking precautions. There seems to be a POPULAR misconception that we might be able to avoid this disease by claiming ignorance and that is just plain STUPID! Maybe on some other level of consciousness we can, but here on earth we NEED to take action against this disease. Clearly, SEX is more exciting without a condom…they’re not very convenient, they’re not sexy, they don’t feel natural…However they are THE only thing between you and HIV/AIDS; and if not for the dark dealings I've witnessed in the GAY community, I’d say we could actually take that risk…but I’d be DEAD wrong. This game of SEXUAL musical chairs we play where the one left standing is one that has to find a seat elsewhere is reckless AND foolish. It seems that idea of NOT dealing with disease makes more sense since most of us just hang back, dreaming AND waiting…just watching as we loose the community to this killer. I suppose taking some HIV medication is a better thing to do because somehow, someway it’ll make EVERYTHING PERFECT…AGAIN…So while we wait, the INVITED fear that told us that we were NOT worthy holds us HOSTAGE, keeping us from living…Now all we have is doubt AND unhappiness…SO WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO GET HORIZONTAL & HE TELLS YOU I CAN’T USE A CONDOM BECAUSE IT KILLS THE MOOD OR HIS ERECTION, PLEASE ASK HIM FOR SOME HIV MEDS INSTEAD. EVEN IF HE DECLARES THAT HE IS FINE & DOESN’T HAVE ANY DISEASES YOU STILL SHOULD ASK FOR THOSE PILLS IF YOU DECIDE THAT YOU BELIEVE HIM. I’VE HEARD EVERY EXCUSE UNDER THE SUN AS TO WHY A MAN REFUSES TO WEAR PROTECTION. HOWEVER, LIVING IN THESE TIMES DOING THINGS LIKE THAT IS A ONE WAY TICKET INTO THE DANGER ZONE …PLAYING WHAT IF IS A DUMB THING TO RISK…ALL ONE HAS TO DO IS VISIT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL & SEE WHAT TAKING HIV MEDS DOES TO A PERSON & I AM QUITE SURE THEY’LL THINK TWICE BEFORE WALKING DOWN THAT ROAD THEMSELVES…AS ALWAYS THE CHOICE IS YOURS…
Hey Im first.......and I have to first off say that this pic of this dude is so uggglay!!
ReplyDeleteoff to read sheesh
ummm, ok....thanks for the teaching once more daddy....lol. I do clearly understand what you mean about this deadly disease. I have to be one to admit that I had not always practice safe sex, but as of now...Im clean get tested regularly cos Im told that it could take 10 years to show. But I am glad that you put it out there for our fellow bloggers to get a better understanding.
ReplyDelete**Shit if he is clean, asking for meds will sure scare his ass. He may think you got the disease...lol
Dear Brothers & Sisters,
ReplyDeleteYour life is a gift and I'm pretty positive that your creator did not mean for you to live with HIV.
I know that sometimes when we are in the throes of passion, we throw all cautin to the wind. But let's try to conscientise our minds.
There is no reason for many of us in this day and age to have a positive HIV status. There is so much information available. All that we need to learn, is self-control and love. We need to love ourselves enough to want to protect our lives.
If that guy insists on barebacking, then he sure is irresponsible and does not care for your well-being. We'll still be having sex well into our old age, there is no need to hurry it. Be safe so that you can live your best life.
I know that he won't be there when you come back with a positive HIV report. He won't be there to make things better when that cocktail you're taking makes you feel sick, or when you're depressed, or when you're too sick to hold anything in your stomach.
But in the end, how you want to live your life is entirely up to you.
As always well put. I have lost loved ones to this disease. I have People close to my heart that walk through life with it.
ReplyDeleteBetween you and I, do you enter my mind or do I enter yours, because this is one of the topics I was thinking about yesterday?
ReplyDeleteAnd I know that people say with medication, a positive mental attitude and correct diet, HIV can be managed. But I don't think this is living.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know some people say 'we're all going to die anyway'. But to have to live your life with this disease, with all the complications that it brings? I don't know if it's worth it.
OYIN - HE SUPPOSED TO BE UGLY HIV/AIDS IS AN UGLY DISEASE...& I AM GLAD THAT YOU ARE TAKING OF YOURSELF & SEEKING PROTECTION FROM THIS KILLER
ReplyDeleteSHALLOTTE - I LOVE YOUR PASSION WHEN IT COMES TO DEALING THIS MONSTER...I TOLD YOU THAT WE ARE IN EACH OTHERS HEAD...
ReplyDeleteMS. ANGIE - HERE'S TO THEM BEATING THIS MONSTER...
ReplyDeleteMeds or no meds, they ain't no cure!
ReplyDeleteAnyone who refuses to wear a condom sends two very distinct messages:
1) he doesn't give a damn about you.
2) he doesn't give a damn about himself.
One.
Amen brotha! :)
ReplyDeleteI barely like taking Tylenol, so you know I'm not in the market for any HIV cocktails. Some of my clients are HIV positive, and it impacts every facet of their lives. They are often isolated because they fear disclosing their status to friends or potential partners. It's amazing that some people believe condoms should only be used for vaginal/anal intercourse. ALL BODY FLUIDS SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. Thanks for the post, K.
ReplyDeleteMistakes happen. But dont be just plain stupid. Trust me I know all about it. Its not something you want to deal with. If putting on a condom can stop u from having to go to the doctors every 3 months. stop u from having to take medication. Stop you from having people look and treat u as if your no longer worth a damn....hey wouldn't u say that putting one on is worth it?
ReplyDeleteI'll take condom for life alec.
ReplyDeleteI had to console my co-worker yesterday because when she tried to talk to her 18 year old son about safe sex he told her if he got HIV/AIDS he'd just take whatever Magic Johnson is taking. She is totally distraught and doesn't know what to do. He has no men in his life to talk to. It's a sad situation.
ReplyDeleteMOANERPLICITY – IF ONLY THIS TRUTH COULD RESONATE WITH US…
ReplyDeleteBRETTCAJUN – WE NEED MORE THAN AN AMEN…
ReplyDeleteLOSOJOSNUEVOS – JUST SPREADING THE WORD…
ReplyDeleteTRU3LOGIC – EVERY TIME I TOUCH THIS SUBJECT I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR RESPONSE
ReplyDeleteCLNMIKE – I CAN TELL THAT YOU ARE SMART MAN…
ReplyDeleteSCORNED WOMAN – MY HOPE IS THAT YOUR CO-WORKER DOESN’T HAVE TO DEAL WITH HER SON COMING IN CONTACT WITH HIV…TELL HER THAT THERE ARE MANY ORGANIZATIONS AROUND THAT CAN AID HER IN HER QUEST…I HOPE SHE DOES THIS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE…
ReplyDeleteIt is really strange how people can down play things such as HIV/AIDS when there is absolutely no way to down play, you get down you wear protection, the condom doesn't feel exactly good, but it feels good to know that it may be protecting me from a virus not just HIV/AIDS, but any number of STDs.
ReplyDeleteYeah there are people that find it easier to take HIV/AIDS medication and they are not even infected, but they entertain the thought that they are protected in the event they come in contact with the virus... bullshyte! Why would anyone take medication they have not been prescribed and possibly infect their liver or worst... need the medication later and the shyte won't work because they have been taking it as a precaution.
CHET - I SOMETIMES WONDER IF THERE IS ANY HOPE LEFT?
ReplyDeleteI dont want anything that MJ is taking.....lol
ReplyDeleteOYIN - YOU BETTER NOT CAUSE YO ASS CAN'T AFFORD MJ'S SHIT...
ReplyDeleteBoy did you ever say a mouth full with this on here!! Sexual Musical Chairs. I would have never thought of it that way!
ReplyDeleteACOUSTIC SOUL - THERE IS SO MUCH MORE I WANT TO SAY & I FEEL THAT THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH THAT CAN BE SAID ON THIS SUBJECT
ReplyDeleteI feel u on this post buddy!!!! people gotta start getting this whole HIV/Aids thing in their heads!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDEONTE'K - THEY DAMN WELL BETTER
ReplyDeleteI'm a med student & I tell you HIV is not a fun disease. Most of the patients are always in the hospital for one thing or the other cos HIV makes u immunocompromised & prone to all kinds of infections. plus the medications have their side effects.
ReplyDeleteIt all boils down to choice in the end. We can't judge people for their choices. If they don't want to protect themselves, then they don't really have to. We can't punish people for not thinking similarly as us. It's their body, life, death, etc.
ReplyDeleteWEIRDGURL - I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT HOW AWFUL IT MUST HAVE BEEN TO WITNESS PERSONS DEALING WITH THIS DISEASE...IF ONLY OTHERS COULD SEE...
ReplyDeleteKEISHA KORNBREAD - I AM NOT JUDGING ANYONE FOR THE CHOICES THEY MAKE, I AM MERELY HOLDING UP A MIRROR IN THE HOPES THAT THEY CAN CHOOSE LIFE OR DEATH
ReplyDeleteSome people seem to have developed the notion that because this is the era of superior medical care and treatment for HIV/Aids that it is no longer cause for alarm or concern. So What if they get it,they'll just take meds and live long fulfilling lives like Magic Johnson. While it is true that people are living longer lives and medicine has advanced in its treatment of the disease, it does not mean that we should b reckless and irresponsible and go chasing this disease.Let's be smart, let's be wise.
ReplyDeleteOSSIE - YOU TELL THEM BABES!
ReplyDeleteMore like sexual Russian Roulette
ReplyDeleteNot cool @ all
Reminds me of a magazine ad i saw with a gut with a condom in one hand an an HIV cocktail in the other
so choose
Unfortunately, common sense is up against the veneer of gloss that porn gives bareback sex. "Look! Hot, healthy guys are doing it, why can't I?"
ReplyDeleteThat's the message kids are getting; everything else is scaremongering killjoys.
