Hey! I work in the Public Sector. I've been doing so for 3 years and have advanced fairly well. Many Public Sector jobs are moving away from promoting people simply based on time-in-grade and are looking more at peoples performance. If you want to move up, there are plenty of opportunities just like in the Private Sector. You just have to want it.
I've been in the public sector for several years and have be promoted a few times. Advancement is possible in the public sector. Depending on your area of work, a great deal of advancement is possible. Depending on education background, the management track has great potential.
