MAN IN THE MIRROR was a number-one hit for singer Michael Jackson when released as a single in the spring of 1988. It is one of Jackson 's most critically acclaimed songs and it was nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards. The song garnered massive airplay and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. I chose this song because of its message AND I felt that we all could take a break from the hustle N’ bustle of life and put thing in perspective.
i remember that i was..somekind of surprise of this song, becaus this song is not michael typical....i like this song! Thank you
ReplyDeletei enjoyed this song tremendously when i first brought the Bad album and then again when it was released about 6 months later as the 4th single. hasn't aged as well to me as, say human nature or lady in my life, but it's still a great mj song.
ReplyDeleteMichael Jackson... 1988. My first year in boarding school. My late friend, Peter, who I was very close to from 1988-1989, introduced me to Michael Jackson.
ReplyDeleteHe used to borrow me the lyrics to all of Micheal's songs and I would sit for hours in my dormitory, memorising them.
Michael, along with Tupac, became my favourite artist of all time.
Hearing this man sing or watch him on tv perform, would bring tears to my eyes. I would become so happy that I would not know what to do with myself.
Michale was the shhhhhhhh back in his day!
ReplyDeleteMicheal still is the ish...the media is trying to put him down...
ReplyDeleteSeems like whenever MJ waxed deep in a song, (i.e. Human Nature or Man In the Mirror) those songs were written by other people.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first heard MITM, I was LIKE, daaaaaaaamn! Mikey just came DEEP with his message... turned out someone else did. In this case, Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett wrote it.
But to give MJ his due, it WAS a seriously passionate performance.
Clearly one of the best in his adult years.
One.
Man in the mirror. I remember I was a young lad when this song dropped, but I was and still is a lyricist, so when I caught the words to this song, it changed me. Mike was hot in his prime, and if the media laid off of him a little, I bet he could made a mad come back.
ReplyDeleteI love this song
