Like abused children convince themselves that they are part of the
problem that cause them to be abused rather than the insane mind of the fool
who abused them we have that same sick relationship with those who discriminate
and kill us. We think straight people abuse us because we are gay rather than
because of their criminal mind. So we think that our gayness is our problem
and, consequently, we consciously or unconsciously hate it.

This mentality is precisely the one that all the haters want us to have. Having these feelings is a victory for homophobia. Our being members of the GLBT community isn't the issue here. We are who we are. The problem is their irrational and rabid hatred of us. They don't have to like us. However, as humans, they do need to respect us.
ReplyDeleteI don't even want their respect just leave us the hell alone!
DeleteNot long ago on google+ there was a story of a man who was beaten by 3 guys for asking where a gay bar was. Immediately following this were 2 gay guys who decided that they story was missing something. They decided he was drunk, and in a straight bar * gasp* . When another commented that being drunk and gay in a straight bar did not give them license to beat him, even IF that were the case. The other guy basically said he probably grabbed someones ass. This made me sI sad that a gay man would assume that he must've had it coming. Then I thought maybe it is self preservation. If you believe the guy had it coming some way then that exact same thing can't happen to you
ReplyDeleteThe things we say/do in this world just wounds me.
