CISSY HOUSTON PENS AN OPEN LETTER TO DAUGHTER WHITNEY

It's no secret that Whitney Houston and her mother Cissy Houston shared an unbreakable bond. Whitney often attributed her passion for singing to her Gospel singer mother.

Though Cissy has remained private about her grieving, she recently penned an open letter that she posted in the program booklet of her superstar daughter's homegoing service this Saturday

"I never told you that when you were born the Holy Spirit told me that you would not be with me long and I thank God for the beautiful flower he allowed me to raise and cherish for 48 years," reads the letter.

Cissy goes on to write about a series of strange events that occurred on the very day Whitney was found dead: "On Saturday, before I found out about your transition, my doorbell rang. I went to answer it but there was no one there. It rang again and again, no one was there so I called the concierge to tell him someone was ringing my doorbell. He checked the cameras and told me that no one was there. You promised me you were coming to spend time with me after the Grammys. I believe the spirits allowed you to come after all."

Cissy ends the letter by writing, "Rest my baby girl in Peace' you're now in the arms of Jesus. Love, Mommie."

  1. Cissy's letter was touching, and I don't want to seem cold, but hear me out. If the Holy Spirit (for the record I'm highly skeptical of such things) knew Whitney wouldn't have a long life, then why allow her to suffer through drug addiction and whatever other demons she wouldn't have ever been able to conquer? Why not give her the inner strength to overcome her struggles? Or at the very least let her pass in a more humane way than being found lifeless in a bath tub.

My mother has talked of similar spirit experiences, once in her childhood after the funeral of a relative and again after a friend of hers died of cancer when I was a kid. Perhaps Whitney's spirit did ring the door bell. Or maybe it was real to Cissy because her mind made it real, like I believe my mother did.

Again, the letter was touching, and if this helps Cissy cope with and feel at peace about her daughter's death, then more power to her. But it just makes the Holy Ghost/god seem manipulative and cruel.

    1. I agree with you that this letter was touching and I HAD to post this. I am not skeptical of the supernatural as you said you are, I believe that we are touched by certain events that can't be explained and how we interpret them is something totally different. And while I get your view, I have to say that sometimes things are beyond our control and capabilities. That's to say if you were physic and had information on this person's death, can you stop it? More importantly should you?

  2. I'm a firm believer that the spirit is forever present, there is something that lets us know and from my experience the spirit is never wrong. I remember the night my best friend passed I got uncontrollable chills and later I learned that the spirit was trying to let me know that Donald was fighting and didn't want to go. I know it sounds strange, but the spirit is powerful.

  3. If it was true (which I do not buy into), why would Cissy not share this with Whitney at the start of her downward spiral that ended with her death? I personally do not buy into superstition surrounding death. Simply because weird shit happens around us all the time, only when we can link it to another life altering event is it seen as a premonition or a spirit saying goodbye.
However I guess if it brings her peace, who can argue with that?
