ReplyDeleteG.K., I've been thinking about how to answer your question regarding my 'secret' to having gotten to the happy place I am in now and the answer has to be DOWNSIZING.
I have downsized not only my possessions and my quest for the material, but also my expectations of myself, the people who touch my life and also of the world in general. I no longer strive for or expect perfection from myself or from others. Random acts of kindness and consideration are now the things I cherish most.
With age comes the acceptance of what IS and the ability to live with and adjust to NOW. NOW, I am 62, my bank account, body, health, aspirations and expectations of those around me are all greatly diminished, but I can finally say that I am truly happy.
I have learned how to love and how to accept love. I have learned how to compromise; that I dont need to be right all of the time or even most of the time. I have learned that by building up and supporting others, and especially the man I love, I strengthen and enrich myself as well.
I have learned that what is of the most value to me is the warmth that I see in my lover's eyes and the smile on his face when he comes home every day and finds me waiting for him.
Having downsized, I finally ENJOY my life, and for all the wealth and abundance I have now amassed; dear God, I am truly grateful.
