IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY

IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY is the lead single from Sheryl Crow's 1996 eponymous album. The song hit the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #10. The track won Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the 1997 Grammy Awards. The song ties with her other hit "My Favorite Mistake" as her third most popular single in the UK, reaching #9 on the UK singles chart. The song signaled a departure from the good time vibe of the huge hit ("All I Wanna Do") from her previous album, Tuesday Night Music Club. I chose this song because I find that a lot of people feel threatened by achieving REAL happiness. But I am of the opinion that in order for us to experience any sort revolutionary change in our lives we have to find those AH HA MOMENTS that our lives crave. So as the words of this song flow through, you ask yourself if the things in you life REALLY makes you…

  6. Ah Yes - Sheryl Crow. I wore this song out my freshman year in high school. It's one of my favorite Sheryl Crow songs. The message (and the music) is timeless. It's pertinent that we find the Ah Ha Moments in our lives... That we strive for and go after the things that will make us happy. It's so easy to achieve for some and so hard for many others. But happiness is essential - for all.

I love the message. If you are truly happy and comfortable being who and what you are then why should it matter what anyone else thinks?
