ESPN MAGAZINE CELEBRATES THE ATHLETIC PHYSIQUE {SANS UNIFORMS}

Expanding on Sports Illustrated‘s ridiculously successful annual swimsuit issue, ESPN: The Magazine is releasing its third-annual “Body Issue”—which celebrates the bare bodies of more than 20 top athletes—on October 7.

Among the sculpted figures in the altogether (save for strategically covered private parts) are the L.A. Clippers’  Blake Griffin, The Mets’ Jose Reyes and Rams running back Steven Jackson, speed skater Apolo Ohno, NHL player Ryan Kesler, UFC champion Jon Jones, race-car driver Helio Castroneves; snowboarder Louie Vito, boxer Sergio Martinez, marathoner Ryan Hall and paralympian Jeremy Campbell. Female models include soccer star Hope Solo, the WNBA’s Sylvia Fowles, snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler and roller-derby queen Suzy Hotrod.

“This is an issue in the short time we’ve been doing it that’s become pretty anticipated,” says ESPN editor Chad Millman. “In terms of the athletes we’ve attracted, we feel like the group is really strong.”
