¡FUCK THE CORPORATE ROYALTY!

Please, find a comfy spot and pay attention…this may be a long one…Who among us finds it strange that we ACCEPT the legitimacy of the CORPORATE world AND don't question their right to exist? I live in a country that has operated on a daily basis with NO real direction, NO real plans in place and NO feeling or compassion when it comes to the workers they step on. Thomas Paine puts it this way, ‘a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first formidable outcry in defense of custom.’ CORPORATIONS are like ROYALTY in that they demand and receive tribute from their subjects in the form of corporate welfare. Like royalty, corporations get to pass on their titles, thereby attaining a degree of immortality. As time passes, wealth becomes more and more concentrated in corporate hands to the point where eventually they will have it all and the rest us will have NOTHING! KINDA MAKES ONE WONDER WHO ACTUALLY LIVES IN A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY? Moreover, I wonder what are the alternatives? The fact that I have to ask such a rhetorical question means that we MUST transform our own conditioned thinking from that of PROGRAMMED WORKER into LIBERATED CITIZEN. I feel that we need to take a page from the play book of corporations who have spent way too much time consolidating their power AND filling themselves with meaningful democratic control AND turn it on them. We need to remove the myth that because they wrote the rules, we need to accept things as they are simply as our harsh reality. We KNOW that the struggle for equality is difficult because of the apparent overwhelming power of those who think they have it; but it is US who give it to them. And by his yardstick, man is an abject failure; he is a divider, NOT a uniter. Hence is there ANY reason for me to think that I am ignorant for believing that DAUNTING array of economic failures confronting the world today TRULY exists because of CORPORATE greed? Is it crazy of me to think that this particular cancer which has been GROWING EXPONENTIALLY for as long as I’ve been alive is @ the core of many of our nation's economic ills? Is it sad that we as the worker bees just go along with the flow? From the dawn of time, we’ve lived in a world where the privileged few took advantage of the many AND earned roughly 20 times as much as the average employee. And it is time that this narrow single-mindedness that has taken the world down a very bad path comes to an end. The disparity in compensation today is an ethical embarrassment, and I am sure that most of the kings AND queens are NOT feeling much of a pinch. Isn’t it weird how they created this dilemma but now sit back and say they were preparing for a rainy day such as this? My heart cries out as the ills of such a broken system ripple through so many of our lives. Isn’t it UNTHINKABLE that a company that's earning money cutbacks just so they can earn another $12 million or $20 million or $40 million in profit? Mean while the petty workers are surrounded by cubicle walls and don't know how to get out…FUCK THE CORPORATE ROYALTY!

  1. Coporate Royalty, there to feed us and to fuck us around. They feel that they are doing us a favour by keeping us in their employ. Sometimes if we dare complain, we are made to understand that many more would give everything to be in our position. Many of us complain in corners, afraid to open our mouths.

Last year in my company complaints reached fever pitch because our bosses had no interest in paying market related salaries. So last year some people went to the papers and what do you know, our MD was furious. She couldn't understand why people were not raising their grievances through the proper channels. What proper channels, we wondered. Everyone was scared of her, even top management. It was only after that saga that she raised salaries a bit.

But do people have to resort to these methods in order to survive? And not everyone can. So what do the millions of workers do? Resort to labour movements and unions? In some countries these are almost non-existent. And even in countries where they are operational, they are never able to fight for 'real' salaries. What they get for their workers is enough for them to 'survive'. The best they can fight for is the so-called 'living wage' which gets eroded when food and petrol goes up.

I don't know if a time will come when these power hungry Masonists that run these corporations will change. They are driven by the love of money and the power that comes with it.

  4. It was a long one

But the gist of it is that the the poor are getting poorer

But it doesn't mean that the rich are getting richer - they're just getting greedier and more desperate with the moment.

Terrible that everyone of them are exploiting their employees just to maintain the power and wealth that they had before asking us to sacrifice while they accept pay raises or cut expenses by letting employees go and asking those remaining to pick-up the slack.

Wonder how long that formula can last.

  5. Democracy and the corporate world are perfect bedfellows - corporations are there to satisfy their shareholders, no matter what the cost. Democratically elected governments are there to satisfy their shareholders (voters). They each have one solitary goal - profit, in the case of corporations, and being all things to everyone, in the case of government. Democracy and capitalism are perfect bedfellows, and neither of them really work (unless you're at the top of the pile). As you say, what's the alternative...?

  6. Hmmmmmm I agree and I disagree assertions. Granted I don't argue that there isn't greed and corruption in corporate america but to suggest that the vast majority of companies are corrupt is simply false.

Freshman year in college a professor/advisor gave a 20 minute speech to my incoming class. The crux of his remarks was this. "Corporate loyalty goes out the window when faced with sustaining the business. They will hand you a pink slip and utter 'It's nothing personal, it's business.' You have to understand that at the end of the day you work for (insert your name here) Inc. So when a good opportunity arises, don't be affraid to stretch out on faith and tell these corporations 'It's nothing personal, it's business." I've meditated and abided by that philosophy from that day forward.

  7. SHALLOTTE – I LOVE WHEN YOU THEY FEEL THAT THEY ARE DOING US A FAVOR BY KEEPING US IN THEIR EMPLOY. I REMEMBER WORKING FOR THE MAN I CONSIDER TO BE THE DEVIL & THAT WAS HIS ATTITUDE, EVERY WEEK SOMEONE WAS GETTING FIRED IT WAS SUCH A SAD THING TO WITNESS. I AM GLAD THAT THE PERSONS @ YOUR COMPANY DECIDED TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES. WITH COMPANIES THAT BEHAVE IN THIS MANNER, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE…
