REVIEW OF WRATH OF THE TITANS

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Wrath of the Titans is a 2012 fantasy film and sequel to the 2010 film Clash of the Titans. The film stars Sam WorthingtonRalph FiennesLiam NeesonDanny HustonÉdgar RamírezBill NighyToby Kebbell and Rosamund Pike with Jonathan Liebesman directing a screenplay by Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson. The film is scheduled for a March 30, 2012 release in 3D[2] and IMAX 3D.

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year-old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans led by Kronos: father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus (Liam Neeson), Hades (Ralph Fiennes), and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades and Ares (Édgar Ramírez) make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows as Zeus's remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon's demigod son Agenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT THE MOVIE:

  1. The specials were much better than Clash of the Titans (certainly worth the $10 we pay here in the Bahamas).
  2. Sam Worthington certainly seems like he is enjoying his role this time, he actually smiles and is more into what has to be done.
  3. Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes & Bill Nighy are awesome in their roles and they shown brightly on screen.

WHAT'S BAD ABOUT THE MOVIE:

  1. To have an appreciation of how things progressed for Perseus and company, I think there should have been some flashback scenes to him starting his family.
  2. It would have been nice to see the struggle between Kronos and his sons which led to his banishment.
  3. LOVE the overall family dynamic but it would have been nice to see Ares vie for for his father's attention after Perseus came into the picture.
  4. I know it is just a movie, but I HATE the fact that "Gods" can die, what's that about?
OVERALL GRADE: B-
