I think we've got to stop being as judgmental as the very people we say hurt us AND stop being so horribly materialistic and shallow. IN A PERFECT WORLD, EVERYONE WANTS THE PERFECT BODY WITH THE GUY WITH THE PERFECT BODY AND THE PERFECT FACE, BLAH BLAH BLAH...but we all LIVE ON EARTH! Let's TURN ON THE DAMN LIGHTS IN THE CLUBS and LOOK at each other! That's who you are taking HOME!
A good place to start would be with the realization that the vast majority of us arent perfect and dont need to be, dont spend all of our free time gazing at our own reflection or in clubs picking up random tricks and dont have the luxury or the inclination to spend every waking moment obsessing about our 'gayness'.
Whether we be Gay or Straight, most of us are just struggling along dealing with the very real issues of basic survival, and when we are lucky enough to meet someone in any venue, THAT's who we are taking home.
LOL, I appreciate the compliment, but I daresay nobody would be that fascinated by the mundane travails of my very boring middle-aged existance.
Expanding on what Roger said, when we get older we realize that we have no choice but to take Life one day at a time and forgive ourselves for the days when we just dont have the strength to keep up the fight. The key to success, however minimal, is that we get up every morning and keep trying.
Personally, a vow every morning as I start the day to be the very best man that I can be for that particular day. Keep the promise short-lived, take it one day at a time and renew it daily. That's what works for me.
