DADT REPEAL GOES INTO EFFECT

After years of debate and months of final preparations, the military can no longer prevent gays from serving openly in its ranks.
Repeal of a 1993 law that allowed gays to serve only so long as they kept their sexual orientation private took effect Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. EDT.

  2. And it's about time a nation that tries to present itself to the rest of the world as a great democracy finally puts to rest one more vestige of discrimination, oppression and repression. One small step for equality, another step towards justice.

  6. In war there are no sexual preferences each soldier enlisted to do a job. Just as long as the men and women in the armed services conduct themselves as soldiers and help to protect our country and it's people.
