IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT THAT YOU ARE GAY

This is a segment of my blog that I've been bad in keeping up with and for that I am sorry. I've found many entries out there that are worth re-blogging and I've kept them waiting for the right time to put them out there. But when is the 'right' time? If I am hit by an entry that is worth sharing, I should do my duty and share it with you guys in the blogoverse. So I asked for permission and got go ahead to re-blog an entry that touched me yesterday. Some of you might know this blogger and his work and if you don't please get to know him via this entry. Sinia Msafi is the type of blogger whose struggle is SO familiar to many, he is the type of blogger that I'd sit and chat with for hours on end. Enjoy the entry and please visit his blog HERE
Human being are very good at blaming. It's something in our nature not to own up things especially if we feel they are wrong. You cannot blame me for thinking that it was my fault that I  struggle with same sex feelings. And the blaming led to self destructive behaviors and agonies that made me feel less of a human being. What did I do to deserve this? I would rhetorically ask myself every other day.

There is this passage in the gospel where the pharisees met a man born blind and the asked Jesus whose fault it was that this guy was born blind. Jesus said that it was no one's fault, but that this happened for the glory of God. And when I was thinking about this I realized there so many things that we would want to get someone to blame. But that would be futile and inaccurate because it's no one's fault that you are yourself.

Most folk are living empty lives because of the blame issue. You want to blame yourself, you want to blame your parents, you want to blame someone. But what good is it to find someone to carry the blame?

But you must agree with me, the government blames people who are gay as if it is their fault, and that is why they will not give them human rights that they deserve, a sign of blame. Religion will not accept such people because it blames them for being GIANT sinners. The society will not accept them because they blame them. You hear people say, how can he be gay? We don't want him in our neighbourhood lest he recruits our children. In essence they are categorizing him with the thief who decides to be a menace in society.

And though everyone else blames you making life tough because of this, you must stop blaming yourself. It's at this point that you say the serenity prayer; that God may give me the courage to change the things that I can, the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change and the wisdom to know the difference. Wisdom is what we need to have, to at least have a meaningful life amidst all the blaming.

It's not your fault that you are gay, but it will be your fault if you remain down there in pain and frustration, it will be your fault if you destroy your life, it will be your fault if you refuse to believe that you have the power to make it better and live a fulfilling life. Decide today that you will not be a result out of a process but a process to a result. A better result.
