¿DOES THE 'HOT' PIC GET YOU TO CLICK?

Does my use of sexy images that illustrate my entries get you to click?  In our hot abs, nice and big dick obsession, am I a bad blogger for perpetuating this stereotype? Selling sex is a fact of life and we all have to deal with it, but when you look at the social norms of the gay community juxtaposed against those of mainstream society, it makes me wonder if the gay community is superficial, fawning over the guy with a six-pack?

Gay men are often accused of being overly sexualized. Fair enough. But here's the thing: I am NOT trying to live by anyone’s expectations of what I should put on this blog. I REFUSE to let people make me feel like something is wrong because I embrace the anatomy of men (gay n’ straight alike)! If an individual click on this blog because of the images, I am happy that they came to a place that can offer them a serious word or two while enjoying some eye candy. As the Toltec teachings go, I try to be impeccable with my words, don't take anything personally, don't make assumptions AND always do my best. Can you say the same when you come here?

  1. personally, it's not the hot pic that makes me click on your blog, but what you have to say. Often what makes me check a certain entry is the title, something you're really good at (your titles are often poignant questions). There's nothing wrong with using some eye candy to attract people to deeper content.

about gays being superficial or over-sexualized, well, not more than straight people, it's just that once we've had to break the taboo of our own sexuality, we tend to talk more openly about certain things. just a guess...

  2. EDUARDO - THANKS FOR BEING HONEST...WITH THE TITLES I TRY TO CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF MY ENTRIES.

  3. For me it's quite the opposite. I used to be skeptical of reading blogs that had sexy pics because I felt that the pics would over power the post or the post would be all about sex. Even with some news blogs, when there's a chance to use a hot pic of a ripped celebrity, that'll be the main pic to post.

I read your blog because you have more to say than what pics you have displayed. Because of your blog, when checking out new blogs, I now look past the pics to see what their blog is all about. I'm glad I've stuck with it because I've read some wonderful blogs, as well as met wonderful bloggers.

I've asked myself if I'd ever begin posting pics, and I still don't think I will (I just don't have the energy to look for a pic - I'll just keep it to myself and enjoy it later lol). I just hope that whomever reads my blog, can handle the paragraphs and pic-less posts. Much love to you, man!
