¿WHY ARE GAYS BETTER @ ONLINE DATING?

The most likely place to meet your mate is no longer the office; it’s the Internet — especially if you’re shopping for a same-sex love. A recent university study found 61% of gay and lesbian couple participants met their mate online.

The Stanford sociology study focused on couples who met and became involved in the last two years. Of the couples interviewed, 23% of hetero mates had met online, while lesbian and gay couples studied reported almost triple that percentage utilized online dating to find each other.

A 2008 Harris Poll also showed that LGBT people are more steadfast Internet users than straights. About 75% of the LGBT participants surveyed were classified as heavy Internet users, while only 59% of heterosexual participants were found to be heavy Web users.

TELL ME: Why do you think LGBT individuals are more present on the Internet? Where did you meet your current or most recent flame?

  1. Well, on the internet no one knows if you are butch, effeminate, or T, so it is a relaxing place free of abuse for folks who experience it everyday in the flesh. As to the dating thing? A history of overcoming incredible obstacles develops great genius is getting needs met.

Just my thoughts after decades of observing and living!

  2. I'm not exactly certain why gay men and women spend so much time online but I bet it has a lot to do with it being a comfort zone and informative.

I do spend as much time as allowed searching online for the perfect mate, but to no avail, although I have met a few nice people along the way.

There is no pressure shopping the internet for a mate, gay men find it very easy to create a profile and to serach other profiles, this allows us to pick from various profiles and to connect with other men with compatible profiles and desires.

  3. I personally believe that in person alot of gays tend to have walls up for whatever reason, or put on grand airs. Which is not welcoming or inviting to others. I think the internet is a neutral space that alllows people to be more of who they are innately or more of who they want to be. Allowing more of a chance to connect.

On a side note I've been off the net too long cuz your new banner is HAWT!!! Love the new layout

  4. Could it be because it is easier for them to find themselves and be open?

  5. You ALLLL are exactly right. I would be in VERY bad shape right now if it wasn't for the internet. Internet allows us to be in completely different world where we could be more open and "out" than we could be in the real world...its an OUTlet.
