WHY I BLOG...

I am constantly asked why I don't use my blog to make money. It
seemed like a simple enough question, but the truth is, I was stumped. Why do I blog? Not for money certainly, although I continue to hold out hope that one day I will. Is it a creative exercise from which I derive great pleasure? Not really. I've always felt that the act of blogging isn't nearly as enjoyable as the feeling that comes from "having blogged." So why do I do it?

Well, after careful consideration I've come to believe that had I been even a moderately enlighten human being in my formative years; I would feel little compulsion to communicate now. This leads me to wonder, would it have been appropriate to have said that I write these blog entries because I was incapable of expressing myself as a youngster, a situation which caused me unbearable anguish and is only now beginning to dissipate? Maybe...Why do you blog?

  1. Originally I blogged for my entertainment. Lately I feel the need to maybe take a more serious approach. I did one serious post and lost 3 followers same day. I guess it's okay to follow the gay guy's blog, so long is not pushing some "gay agenda". I may start from scratch after the summer when I have the time to devote to it.

  2. Whatever the reason for your blogging, my buddy, allow me to state that you do it well. You have exceeded any earlier issues in communication. I started blogging in response to a dare. An acquaintance didn't believe that I could maintain one for twelve months. He dared me, I accepted. For whatever its worth, it has been an interesting and rewarding two and a half years since.

  3. My previous blogs were somewhat... therapeutical. To write/share/confront one's past and childhood and all that stuff. Then at some point it got too personal and I closed it down.

Now, it's just a collection of pictures. I love taking pictures.

  4. First off, congratulations on your 6 years and 1 million+ hits. This definately indicates that not only do you have something to say, people actually read what you write.

In response to all of your recent posts, all I can do is remind you that in your roll as a gatekeeper, all you can do is show the way in. What people do for themselves and others when they enter the other side is neither your responsibility nor your concern.

    You do your job brilliantly.
