JOURNEY TO THE PAST

"Journey to the Past" is a song written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty for the 1997 animated film Anastasia. The song was originally recorded by actress Liz Callaway to be included in the film and was later re-recorded by singer Aaliyah as an pop-R&B single to promote the soundtrack.[1]

OLDIE, BUT GOODIE: 4thHAPPY BLOG-A-VER-SARY!

So today is marks the FOURTH year that this blog has been going and I would like to thank you for taking the time to appreciate the things that are born in this crazy head of mine. Everyday I still wake up with a fire in my belly and a desire to give you something worth reading and I hope I did that for you. For the past four years I’ve devoted a lot of energy to putting honesty out there (as I see it) without getting lost in the swirl of emotions by others. This blog has kept me centered and knowing that you are here with me, I look forward to MANY moreBLOG-A-VER-SARIES! AGAIN THANK YOU…

OLDIE, BUT GOODIE: 3rd HAPPY BLOG-A-VER-SARY!

WE HERE @ THEGAYTEKEEPER WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WANDER THROUGH THIS BLOG & FOR GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE HEART N’ SOUL WITH YOU AS WE CELEBRATE OUR 3rd ANNIVERSARY. I REMEMBER 3 YEARS AGO STARTING THIS BLOG BECAUSE I DIDN’T WANT TO LOOSE MYSELF TO PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS AROUND ME. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT YOU’VE ENJOYED WHAT YOU FOUND HERE & HERE’S TO ANOTHER YEAR OF GIVING EVEN MORE AS I SHOW THE INTERPRETATIONS OF SHADOW & LIGHT CAPTURED IN HUMAN FORM…

I heard a horn blew
And I knew that,
The world needed men…
Who cannot be bought;
Whose word is their bond;
Who put character above wealth;
Who possess opinions and a strong will;
Who are larger than their vocations;
Who do not hesitate to take risks;
Who will not lose their individuality in a crowd;
Who will be as honest in small affairs as in greater;
Who will make no compromise with wrong;
Whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires;
Who will not say they do it "because everybody else does it";
Who are true to their friends through good and bad, in adversity as well as in prosperity;
Who do not believe that shrewdness, cunning, and hardheadedness are the best qualities for winning success;
Who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth when it is unpopular;
Who can say "no" with emphasis, although all the rest of the world says "yes"
Men who simply can…

OLDIE, BUT GOODIE: 2nd HAPPY BLOG-A-VER-SARY!

I have been given the task of GUARDING the gate AND imparting knowledge to those that know it but can’t live it for some reason. Thus blogging is MY instrument, MY canvas; this entity is MY brush, the photos are MY melody and the words are MY paintings. This is NOT just about words; this is my art…this is what I wanted to be AND ever will be. For the longest time, I thought I was put on this earth to become a doctor and heal people. Now I get to do that EVERY single day with this blog. This blog is built on a foundation of TRUTH mixed with a RAW passion for humanity. Thus the creative AND abstract view of the world with that I have can be described as REAL WITH A TWIST. Every single day I am seek new ways to encourage AND help humanity to come to a DEEPER understanding of themselves, especially the GAY MAN. I use life's subtleties to capture what is around us everyday as I am INSPIRED by the people AND the things that I encounter. Hence what I do here is about YOU, for YOU and by YOU. For YOU are my craft and I understand WE are all put here for a reason AND this is my purpose. So as I mark this occasion I would like to simply thank those who have allowed me to SERVE AND BLESS them with my THIRD eye.

As I sit and reflect on the things that has touched me for past two years, the first thing that comes to mind is GRATEFULNESS! I am grateful because I have been given the opportunity to articulate who I am and this blog has empowered my life AND showed me that I have a purpose, something GREATER than me. When I posted my first entry I was DETERMINED, DETERMINED to take US to the next level. I like so MANY of us spent so much time feeling stuck with thoughts AND feels that weren’t being expressed. I spent a lot of time saying YES when I wanted to SCREAM out NO! It was like I could move mountains with my passion but could never express it with my own song. THAT WAS THEN & THIS IS NOW! I can sit write this entry in CELEBRATION because of who AND what WE are as people…I can sit N’ write this entry because of passion N’understanding for ALL life…I can sit N’ write this entry because of what God makes possible for me…IT IS BECAUSE HE I CAN…

So I encourage you to be devoted to one another in LOVE and HONOR each other ABOVE ourselves. Let’s not let us forget OUR SPIRIT-NATURE and I hope that you remember this notion as you navigate here. WATCH ME as I walk a mile in your shoes AND empathize with you and feel your pain. For you and I are apart of the PERFECTION that was created by GOD. WE inherited the DNA of God and HE put up a curtain, created IMPERFECTION so that we could create perfection again. AND I seek to be that curtain so YOU can attain this goal. I AM OF THE OPINION THAT OUR IMPERFECT WAS CREATED SO WOULD CREATE PERFECTION, INSTEAD OF HAVING IT GIVEN TO US. Think of it as a puzzle with the pieces separated so we could put it back together. I AM ALL FOR BRIDGING THE CHAOS IN OUR LIVES, THE DISTANCE WE FEEL WITH EACH OTHER & OURSELVES. ALWAYS REMEMBER…Happiness given to us doesn't feel like happiness. Happiness that we create…that feels like happiness!SO LET US CREATE OUR CERTAINTY & LOVE FOR OURSELVES? WHEN YOU GET LOST, REMEMBER THAT THIS LIGHT IS HERE TO SHOW YOU THE WAY…

GAWKER'S HANDY GUIDE TO ALL GAY MEN

The gay world is often represented as some sort of monolithic whole that has the same culture. That is a lie. It is actually broken down into a handful of substrata to which each gay belongs. Here they are. Just like the world at large may stereotype gays as mincing wrist flippers with great taste bent on giving everyone they meet a make over. A queer will tell you that we are all individuals and that those stereotypes are false and horrible. That said, when the gays see a fellow homosexual in the public sphere, we try to plug them into the convenient taxonomy the community has made for itself. That's right, we have our own stereotypes for each other, and they're much more specific than you can ever imagine. They may not be very familiar to the world at large, but they are certainly familiar to the brothers in butt fucking.

To say that each gay person belongs to one of these types is a bit deceptive. It's like saying that every woman is either a Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, or Samantha. There are plenty that fit the mold for each squarely, but most are really a combination of the types, or like to think of themselves as individuals, even though they still have many of the traits from one of the pre-selected identities. These aren't the stereotypes of the world at large, they are the ones we have invented for ourselves, and they are just as reductive. Each of the groups tend to hang around only with members of the same groups, and they all have their own bars, parties, music, customs, ways of dress, and intricate mating rituals. Please, meet the homosexuals.

¿WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN HE/YOU IS QUICK TO THE FINISH?

Premature ejaculation SUCKS! Sometimes it's biological your body just behaves this way; sometimes it's due to training because when you first started exploring your body you needed to make it quick so that you wouldn't get caught by a parent or sibling. But as an adult how do you handle it when you are either end of the 'stick'?

DO ASK, DO TELL...

¿DO YOU LOVE/LOATHE YOUR RESIDENT 'BITCHY QUEEN'?

When you first met him he was funny, sharp, and quick-witted. He is the highlight of the party, the one who could entertain a group with his snarky comment. But after a while, he stops being funny and is often referred to as the resident "bitch." Do you think that the ‘bitchy queen’ is too much to deal with? Gay society says that a strong point of view is good, and while the ‘bitchy queen’ can make one blunt or opinionated, those traits offer a certain entertainment value but it does it REALLY provides one with quality relationships? I am of the opinion that life being a bitch doesn't mean one has to be one. Do you love/loathe your resident ‘bitchy queen’?

    REVIEW OF SCREAM 4

    Scream 4,is the latest installment in the Scream slasher film franchise with some influx of fresh blood namely: Hayden Panettiere, Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin. In the latest outing, ten years have now passed and Sidney (Neve Campbell), now a successful author returns to Woodsboro on a book tour. True to form, whenever Sidney is around,the slashers come out and people start turning up dead. With evidence planted in the back of her rental,Sidney is prevented to leave town and the return of ghostface puts her and the whole town in danger.

    What's Good About the Movie:

    A surprising plot twist at the end that we didn't see coming. This would pretty much leave you with your mouth ajar, I know it had that effect on me. This for me was the best thing about the whole film.

    There were some fairly good slasher scenes and scenes to make you probably cringe and even jump a bit.

    What's Bad about the Movie:

    Not to give away the plot of the movie but some scenes just didn't make sense and it felt like the characters were extremely foolish which led to their demise. Ghostface just had to show up and the victims pretty much did the job for him.

    Overall Grade: D,despite having a plot twist that took me by surprise,the overall movie was disappointing compared to the other movies in the Sequel.

    ¿HAVE YOU EVER BEEN AFRAID OF THE "L" WORD?

    When it comes to LOVE, our minds can come up with millions of reasons why we shouldn't express it to that special someone; which is EXACTLY why we should. A lot of us have the misconception that we might be able to imply to that person that is seeking to hear it from us. Maybe on some other level of consciousness that can work, but here on earth when it comes to the "L" word we need to speak it into being. The fear of the "L" word can cause one to miss out on SO much...Have you ever been afraid of the "L" word? Have you ever been on the  receiving end of hearing those from someone you loved?

    ¿HOW ABOUT A TOTALLY (IN)APPROPRIATE TRIBUTE TO JESUS?

    Easter is here, and since MANY consider Jesus to be THE Brad Pitt of gods, it's time for prideful gay hats to courageously come out and honour the man MANY believe rose from the dead on this day.

    REVIEW OF HANNA

    A 16-year-old raised by her father to be a cold-hearted killing machine must learn how to be a girl. Raised by her father, an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland, Hanna's upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna (Saoirse Ronan- The Lovely Bones) journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own. As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.

    What's Good About the Movie:

    An amazing cast delivers a first rate performance. From the talented Saoirse Ronan who is cast in the lead role to the simply brilliant Cate Blanchett who played evil and sinister with perfection in the role of CIA agent Marissa- deliver engaging and believable performances.

    A well developed and clear storyline that keeps the viewer on a thrilling and exhilarating ride throughout the film.

    What's Bad about the Movie:

    The movie ended on a bit of a low note and was a bit anti-climatic.

    Overall Grade: A-, Good sound film-making with an amazing cast.

    WHERE IS THE LOVE?

    "Where Is the Love?" is the first single from The Black Eyed Peas' third album,Elephunk, released in 2003. It was the first single to feature the band's new member,Fergie. The song also features Justin Timberlake. The single peaked at #8 in the USA, becoming The Black Eyed Peas' first Top 10 hit; the single also peaked at #1 in Australia and the UK. "Where Is the Love?" was performed at the 46th Grammy Awards, and received two nominations for Record of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

    MERCY, MERCY ME (THE ECOLOGY)

    "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)" was the second single from Marvin Gaye's 1971 album, What's Going On. Following the breakthrough of the title track's success, the song, written solely by Gaye, became one of his most poignant anthems of sorrow regarding the environment. Led by Gaye playing piano, strings conducted by Paul Riser, multi-tracking vocals from Gaye, the instrumentals provided by The Funk Brothers and a leading sax solo by Wild Bill Moore, the song rose to #4 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart and #1 for two weeks on the R&B singles charts on August 14 through to August 27, 1971.[1]
    As the single became his second million seller from What's Going On, the album started on the soul album charts in the top five and began charging up the pop rankings. "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)" soon became one of Gaye's most famous songs in his extensive catalogue. In 2002 it was his third single recording to win a "Grammy Hall of Fame" Award. Like "Inner City Blues", Bob Babbitt, not James Jamerson, plays the bass line.

    EARTH DAY: ¿R U INSPIRED?

    For over 40 years, Earth Day—April 22—has inspired and mobilized individuals and organizations worldwide to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. R U INSPIRED?

    EARTH DAY: ¿WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

    Earth Day is becoming one of the most important hallmarks in the world of conservation and recycling. It carries with it powerful connotations of ecological responsibility and taking ownership of our planet; after all, it is the only Earth that we have, and taking steps to lessen the impact that you and your fellow man have on it is nothing short of revolutionary.
    Earth Day gives those people who have not taken part in recycling the opportunity to make changes to their lives and their community that they will cherish for a lifetime.  Many organized groups have adopted a pay as you throw program in their local communities.

    REVIEW OF LIMITLESS

                                                      http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810154390/trailer

    If you can take a ''magic pill'' which would make you superhuman-super smart and rich, would you? Limitless brings to mind the old adages of: if something seems to good to be true it probably is and beware of strangers come bearing gifts.

    Limitless stars Bradley Cooper as Eddie Mora, a struggling ,down on his luck writer who is suffering from a chronic case of writer's block. Along comes his ex brother-in-law with a super drug, NZT, that allows him to tap his full potential-allowing him to remember everything he's every read ,seen or heard, remember complex equations and learn new languages in a day. With these new abilities, Eddie is soon heralded as the new super whiz investor on Wall Street which brings him the attention of Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro) -a mega mogul who who invites him to broker the biggest merger in corporate history. Mora soon comes to find out that all that glitters isn't gold and is soon on a deadly run,fighting for his life.

    What's Good about the Movie:

    The storyline. It was well weaved together and executed. The narration by Bradley throughout the film,helped to enhance the viewing experience for the audience and allowed us to experience everything he went through.

    The acting and performances

    Bradley played Eddie Mora with a level of vulnerability and authenticity that at times it was difficult to separate Eddie from Bradley and Bradley's likability factor easily transferred to Mora in his portrayal.

    What can we say about the great Robert De Niro who is simply brilliant as Car Van Loon.

    What's bad about the Movie:

    One of the things I felt should have been done to even improve the storyline was to allow us to see who were responsible for the manufacture of NZT and what was the story behind it.

    Overall Grade: A-, Everything in life comes at price,limitless seeks to ask the question of how high a price are you willing to pay to unleash your full potential and is definitely a must see.

    LOVING THE (GAY) MAN IN MIRROR

    Many gay men are obsessed with looking perfect, doing everything they can to emulate the men they see on websites and in magazines. While on one hand this can be a good thing—hitting the gym and eating right promotes a healthy lifestyle—it can sometimes become destructive. I read a study that showed that heterosexual men are the most satisfied with their bodies, followed by lesbian women, followed by heterosexual women, and the ones who are the toughest on their appearance are gay men. Why do you think we gay men have a problem accepting ourselves without the abs and muscles?

    ¿REVOLUTION OR REVULSION?

    Looking for alternatives to the status-quo when it comes to teaching society about all things gay? How about this article I found that says, California may add gay history to textbooks?

    • ¿HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR MAN'S MEAT, CUT VS. UN?

      I like my man meat untouched.

    Clean, cut and smooth swords only.

    DADDY/BOY: LOVE, POWER & MASCULINITY

    Of all the role-playing scenarios that excite the gay male imagination (master/slave, coach/athlete, cop/civilian, doctor/patient), none is more potent than daddy/boy. The energy that gets activated between two men in this scene is so deep, profound, and erotic that we can only call it mythological. The interplay of strong, protective daddy with adoring, obedient boy uniquely combines love, power, and masculinity in a way that Carl Jung, visiting his local leather bar, would call archetypal, meaning that it goes with the territory of being human. It’s not that everybody is turned on by daddy/boy fantasies, but we can all locate ourselves along the spectrum of being, having, or wanting a good Daddy. What does it mean to engage in daddy/boy fantasies? And how does that dynamic play itself out in gay male relationships?

    THE AFFAIR YOU DON'T KNOW YOU ARE HAVING...

    An e-mail here, a smile there. Maybe that "innocent" friendship with your guy friend isn't so innocent after all....More Than Just Friends? The signs of an emotional affair may be more subtle than those of a sexual affair, but they're just as unmistakable. "An emotional affair happens when you put the bulk of your emotions into the hands of somebody outside of your relationship," explains psychotherapist M. Gary Neuman, author of Emotional Infidelity. Your innermost thoughts, funny jokes, and interesting personal experiences are saved up and spilled to the other guy instead of your spouse. And even if you never so much as touch him, this emotional attachment has just as much potential as a sexual fling to damage your marriage. "We only have so much emotional energy; the more of it we spend outside of our marriage, the less we have inside our marriage," says Neuman. "And after a while, we simply do not have enough emotions and love and caring and time for both."
