FEM GAY MEN VS. BUTCH LESBIANS

The other day I was @ the gas station and I noticed two females having a conversation. As I looked @ them I could tell that they were of the lesbian persuasion by the way they were dressed and how they carried themselves...not to mention the conversation was about their relationships and how they are trying to settle down and treat their women right. Now that's admirable in my book, but I couldn't help but wonder why the other patrons that were around didn't have the same look of disgust on their faces when I see or come across gay men in public? Why no one really bats an eye or show hatred towards females that OBVIOUSLY gay?

  1. Madonna has a song "What it feels like to be a girl"... and the narration sums it up perfectly.
She says, it's ok to be like a man, because men are strong and powerful. But the other way around, for a man to be like a girl is an insult... because women are considered weak.
And that's how society views it.

  3. I often see butch lesbians, and no one seems give them a second look, but oh heaven forbid I get to loose and do something that it is considered gay, all hell breaks loose.

I think that in general people tend to accept the butch and lipstick lesbians, but can't tolerarte enfemmine males or gay men. Oh well.

  4. Marq, I think there are two answers and I hate the fact that I think they are the answers. First, lesbians sexually appeal to many male and female straights and bisexuals, but gay men don't really appeal to them. Most of that feeling is due to lack of exposure, the use of stereotypes and gay men being used as scapegoats for many of the world's ills. Secondly, most straight men and many straight women think less of gay men, as the equate them to women, who in our world are less, therefore gay men are even less than women. It's just fucked up.

  6. We do some of this to ourselves, and the blame doesn't lie all on the heterosexuals. The LGBT "community" has far too long a history of discrimination within its own ranks. More so now than what I remember from 20 or 25 years ago. As the move toward the gym-clone progressed, I've watched our "community" become more and more exclusive of people who didn't fit the 'roided/hairless/machismo ideal. Personally, give me a room full of crazy old-school drag queens (like myself) and sprinkle it liberally with middle-aged leathermen and bull-dykes. I'll have a hell of a lot more fun than a bunch of 'roided twinkies and primadonnas could ever conceive. I'll laugh till I pee, and consider it a time well spent.

  8. I know I'm HELLA late, but...

I think Masculine Energy, from any person, is more accepted as the norm. Period. I've ALWAYS wondered why chicks can go around forever, wearing clothes like they got dressed in P.Diddy's closet, and nobody says a damn word. But if you see a guy wear ruffles, people scoff at him. Smh.

    1. You are never late sir! People on this planet need to revise what they consider to be acceptable.
