NAILING JELLY TO A TREE...

The other day I was reading a blog that posted an open letter to the one TYLER PERRY. In the letter the blogger pretty much asked that Mr. Perry COME OUT OF THE CLOSET. Now after reading the letter I thought to myself, DO WE HAVE ANY RIGHT TO BAGGER SOMEONE OUT OF THE CLOSET? I mean it ain’t like happiness is on this side of the rainbow; and we are doing such a FABULOUS job in the GAY COMMUNITY. Truth be told WE live an invisible N’ hidden existence DESPITE the fact that times are changing AND the world is slowly becoming more ACCEPTING and TOLERANT. So why should Mr. Perry embrace that? I know I wouldn’t…Can you really blame him? Think about it…WE have way TOO much doubt about WHO or WHAT we are; and the suffering that we’ve endured @ our own hands is limitless. So isn’t it wrong that we EXPECTANTLY look to celebrities like him for some sort of vindication? I know that some of you may say that he is obligated to aid us in our plight, but really how much of us are aiding our own dilemma? Being GAY is apart of one's life purpose, announced before birth that goes through rigorous trials to show us that we are SPIRITUAL BEINGS in an EARTHLY BODY. We have to take the things of OUR spirit so that we grow N’ prosper and NOT use someone else to take us where we ought to be…As long as WE sit on OUR collective asses and buckle under the weight of OUR sexuality, we will ALWAYS BE BOUND! Should Tyler Perry come out of the closet? Sure, but that’s his choice and we shouldn’t want him to take responsibility for a tribe because he is popular and well known. OUR day of absolution will come, but ONLY when we yield to the realization that we are strong on our own…Watching us get upset @ the thought of someone NOT claiming to be one of us is like watching a train wreck from a distance. You can see it coming for miles and sense the inevitable conclusion and the more we fight for someone else’s sexuality who is going to fight for ours? SHIT…I am tired of us squandering OUR moral authority by tearing ourselves down. I get that OUR life is in many ways is a reaction to pressure from a society that rejects us; and living is hard. But isn’t that case for all of us? Are we the ONLY forgotten ones? Isn’t it obvious that society itself is lost? Tyler Perry and the many others like him are FORCED to create a separate community in order to survive (some survival huh?) Yet we rather he be a source of controversy that is EXPLOITED by society…HE WOULD REPRESENT THE LOSS & CONFLICT SO MANY OF US LIVE ON A DAILY BASES…& WHO REALLY WANTS THAT FOR ANOTHER? SHIT MOST OF US DON’T EVEN WANT IT FOR OURSELVES…SO BEFORE WE START TEARING DOWN THE CLOSETS OF CELEBS, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER TO OURSELVES SO THAT WHEN THEY DO COME OUT THEY ARE MERELY ADDING TO WHAT WE HAVE & NOT WHAT WE WANT…

  1. Just started following this blog and this post really got me to thinking about some things in my life. I am not out and don't know when I will come out, but some of the reasons listed above are reasons why I am still in the closet. Most people may not agree with it, but this is my journey and a life that I am learning to live each day...Thank you for this post.

  5. I agree! No one has to come out and say that they're straight? It's so dumb...

  6. I agree, though I don't really care if Tyler Perry comes out, though he never will. Those Christians can be really stubborn, lol. Seriously, it reminds me of what an old friend once told me, he rather be happy and ignorant than to embrace growth, exploration and understanding.

In all, Tyler Perry won't come out for another 40 years. And that's fine. I just want him to go to film school and take some writing classes. That or retire. Like right now.

  8. Although I believe TP is "family," I would never demand that he divulge his sexuality to the entire world. Demands such as the ones made by Mr. Musto in the Village Voice illustrate how insensitive certain segments of the LGBT community can be. I am not a fan of his work at all, but I respect his right to privacy.

  9. This is kinda like some of the "messy" folks out there claiming that all straight dudes that they see looking or glancing for a second in their direction are Bi or Gay, and they try to expose or out them out to public. Some people just aren't satisfied until EVERYBODY is in the same boat as they are. Who knows, what if Tyler is indeed in the closet, that's his decision and what some folks fail to realize is that everybody CAN'T come out and make a smooth transition from the closet to the public and expect everything to be all peaches and cream regardless if they are a celebrity. This man is in the prime of his career and coming out now might not be such a good thing. Plus, there's also no doubt in my mind that other celebs may be going through the same thing but one has to remember that there is a time and a place for everything whether it be sooner or later. But in due time ALL things shall come to light. But pressing the issue isn't gonna help.

  10. You know I couldnt really read this posting...cos when I read the first four sentences...I was already pissed. You know I too thought that T. Perry was gay because he portrayed a woman too well. But then I found out that he had a woman....

Ok ok, who gives a fuck what he is...he is out here making a living and making us all laugh. SOooooooooo does him coming out the "CLOSET" make him less funny...I mean what.

Gayte point me to that damn blog...

  11. My feeling is sometimes we want a messiah-type of person to be the face of us and carry the torch for us.

We want to parade him for all the world to see so that through him the world can validate our existence. We want to walk tall and be proud through him.

It's easier if we utilise others to fight our own battles, while we sit back and continue to be our own worst enemies.
