¡We can no longer be a bunch of empty minds living in critical times refusing to recognize real lies!

¿READY TO MALE? (PART II) IDENTITY...

TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE…HOW PROFOUND! Isn’t it AMAZING how regal AND majestic these words are, yet we have a HARD time being TRUE to ourselves? There are those of us who have given our lives to another SO willingly which resulted in us LOSING ourselves in the process. We don’t know WHO we are AND we’ve allowed others to DEFINE us, which has caused us to lose the ability to discover AND grow ourselves inwardly. We NO longer are able to discern a truth from a lie. For many of us, we have accepted lies for so long, that finding out what is true takes time. Having done this very thing, I know how difficult the journey to self-discovery can be. However, I found out that TRUTH is TRUTH and we GAY men are mostly living the NEGATIVE reactions that this shows the world about us. TRUTH is an ACTION word and it CANNOT be ACCEPTED without change. Accepting truth about ourselves is difficult, especially since we’ve been told from birth that the men we become are wired wrong. Despite all of that, TRUTH does set one free if it is allowed to; AND it is a CRUCIAL part of OUR healing. It is a MUST that we give ourselves the FREEDOM to be who we are…It is @ this time when we can come to terms with our weakness without condemnation AND appreciate our strength. So it is imperative that we LIVE OUR TRUTH! It is HONESTY @ the risk of being that VULNERABLE baby all over again…Recently I’ve come to realize that I wasn’t LIVING MY TRUTH. I’ve been putting off this writing this READY TO MALE series because I felt that there wasn’t any hope left for us. However watching Oprah’s LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE SEGMENT the other day and I changed my mind. On this show Oprah was discussing SPIRITUALITY with her guest and it was BEYOND interesting. So imagine my surprise when a GAY man skyped into the show and asked how he can live his best life ever? And it was @ this time that her guest Rev. Ed Bacon said to him that he needs to realize that BEING GAY IS A GIFT FROM GOD. With that said, is it any wonder we don’t know who we are? We have NOT, do NOT, will NOT acknowledge the GIFT that we were given as GAY men on this planet by God…What we have are a bunch of BOYS that are wearing shoes that are WAY TOO big for them. And these BOYS lack the INTELLIGENCE, FOCUS and UNDERSTANDING of what it means to be a male. So is it any wonder that we are then defined by EVERYTHING other than who OR what we TRULY are? CRAZY HUH? We live in an era where we have a VARIETY of semi-achievements; yet we’ve FORGOTTEN how to be vocal AND honest about them (a byproduct of a lost community or the result of deliberate delusion?). Whatever the answers are we need to STOP the DE-EVOLUTION of who are and NOT allow ourselves to swept along by the tide of society like jellyfish get swept to the shore. It is high time that we STOP cradling false HOPE and dwell into REALITY…BEING READY TO MALE IS ALL BEING TRUTHFUL & ACCEPTING ONE’S SEXUALITY…ARE YOU READY NOW?

  2. TRUTH. Only five alphabets and yet one of the hardest words to ambrace. TRUTH is TRUTH. I like that. That is exactly how I would say it.

If everyone one of us took the time to 'listen' to ourselves - the person inside, we would come to know what our truths are, what our souls require and not what someone else dictates. Going contrary to your truth only robs YOU of happiness and contentment. YOU are being dishonest to yourself. And all for what? Does your misery feed someone else's happiness? Is that what your life is about?

If you're gay, you're gay. NO AMOUNT OF TEARS, OR HUNGER STRIKE, OR TRYING TO SWITCH TO THE OTHER SIDE will change that. NOT EVEN KILLING YOURSELF. Learn to accept this truth at every turn, live by it and it shall liberate you. Follow the tide. DON'T swim against it! Otherwise you'll stumble and fall and fail to get up.

  4. so deeply profound

Truth is change and it's hard to have change without a fire. Unfortunately as gay men we lose lots of things in the fire, like family, friends, employment, respect... list goes on. That's why we shy away from the truth - that's what keeps us 'in line'.

Truth is truth - I love that statement - that's what it is there is no escaping it - it is quite sobering because we all have times when we may choose to be a bit ambiguous especially when it comes to our sexuality [correct me if I'm wrong] but we have to get to a point where our truth is not associated with the negative and we can only get there if we show the world the truth and all the lies and stereotypes will not be able to stand up to the truth because truth is truth

Being gay is a gift from God - i would have to embrace that.

We are wearing shoes that are too big for us - yes indeed we do have lots to learn - and we have to live our best 'gay' life possible.

I really love this post - it deserves lots of discussion

  6. Marcus patric once said while being interviewd by B.scott,"like every living creature in nature has a role to play within its society, Are gay people the creative structure within our society?"
I knew imidiatly what he was refering to when he has said that, We as humans rearly compair ourselves to the animal knigdome and how our biology enables us to co-exist and do what we are biologically gifted to do.

take for example if we had removed each and every gay person on the planet and gay had never existed thyroughout history, I beleive that the worlds culture would suffer greatly, what we see on tv, what we wear, how we look , the hair styles we have, how our houses look ,all thses creative factors have been greatly influenced by gay peoplee. when you whatch a show on tv and someone gettting a make, over 4 out of the five proffetionals are gay and very talented, My point is that we have contributed to society greatly rather than ad to its problems as many would see it, but yet we do not embrace the fact that we have a place in this world as gay men and women. Intead we focus on the negative aspects of our experiances, and rather than find a way to deal with the issues that face us, we copound them and dwell deeper into the issue. its intresting how it seems that gay black men are the skapegoat for many of the problems facing the black community, HIV and AIDS and now subsiquently marrage beacsue two people who love each wnat to get married. We have let society decide for us how we affect them rather than we show them how positively we have affected them, we think ourselves useless and not deserving of the merti we have earned. and this is part of the reasons why many of us are not ready to male

  7. KABOMO - IF I UNDERSTAND THINGS CORRECTLY,MANY HETEROSEXUAL PEOPLE WHO OPPOSE MEN-TO-MEN RELATIONSHIPS (AND TO A LESSER EXTENT LESBIAN RELATIONSHIPS) DO SO CITING THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. THEIR ARGUMENT IS THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS OUTLAWED BY GOD AND THEY QUOTE SCRIPTURES FROM THE BIBLE TO SUPPORT THESE CLAIMS. AND IF GOD SEES HOMOSEXUALITY AS AN ABOMINATION, THEN BY EXTENSION, THERE IS NO WAY THAT A MAN SHOULD HAVE A UNION WITH ANOTHER. AS FAR AS THEY ARE CONCERNED, GAY MARRIAGES WOULD BE DEFILING THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE.

AND I DOUBT VERY MUCH THAT WHEN THEY ARE IN THEIR ELEMENT, THE IDEA OF THE CONTRIBUTION THAT GAYS MAKE TO SOCIETY EVEN ENTERS THEIR MINDS.

AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, HETEROSEXUAL PEOPLE WHO ARE OPPOSED TO GAYS SHOULD NOT BE 'BEGGED' TO ACCEPT GAYS. IF GOD DID NOT MAKE YOU GAY, THEN WHO DID? SATAN? IT'S RIDICULOUS. BUT, WE ARE WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW IN THE WORLD. IT'S A STRUGGLE.

  8. Very deep and interesting post and im loving the discussion so far. Embracing the truth that laid dormant in me was on of the hardest things I had to do due to outward societal, religious, and family influences. I wish more of us were able to embrace who we truly are and be happy with that discovery. I feel that until you truly embrace who u are it will be hard for you to be happy.

  26. You hit a nerve and not in a bad way. Once again your talking on issues that need to be address but never really are. Im loving this post because i have always looked at my life as a gift. just like being black. We as a race have had to struggle and fight to get to where we are. Theres nothing we can't do. being gay only adds to what is to come for us as a people.
